Prepare a State of the Environment Report

Report on SNA's

SoE reports outline the state of biodiversity in a region. One way of measuring this is by monitoring SNA's and giving them a grade on a 'scorecard'. Not all councils are in a position to monitor SNA's and therefore do not include SNA's in their SoE documentation.

The 2003 SoE Report for the Chatham Islands is an example of a SoE report based around measuring the health of fresh and brackish water sites.

Use Case

Each year, under the Resource Management Act, the HUC is required to provide a State of the Environment report. Brian, the Biodiversity Manager, has been asked to contribute to this year's report, which focuses on biodiversity and fresh water. Brian's role is to provide data about native land cover, indicator species and freshwater macroinvertebrates.
